Environment: Mortal Realm

Population: Majority

Base Features (1 FP)

Minor Magic (1 FP): Denizens were originally crafted by the gods to populate the Mortal Realm. Unlike the clans created by invaders from beyond, Denizens are elegantly simplistic in design, finding versatility in that simplicity.

As a result of this generalist design, their innate magic is both broad and universally applicable. All Denizens have access to a number of Mana Points (MP) equal to their Smart Ass. This MP renews after a full rest.

They can spend MP to perform impossible feats. To do so, they define what they want to happen. The Game Master determines the DC and MP cost. They pay the MP cost and make a Casting Check (1d12 + Smart Ass). If the check succeeds, the feat happens. Even if it fails, they still lose the MP.

For 5 additional FP, they can make Casting Checks without needing to spend MP. This removes their MP pool entirely.

Crossbreeding (0 FP): In the event that two Denizens of different varieties mate, the offspring will be of the mother’s variety. If the father’s variety is close in appearance to the mother’s variety, the offspring may have an obvious similarity to the father. However, they do not gain any physical traits from the father’s variety.

While not all varieties have the same reproductive cycle, all Denizens require two individuals to produce offspring. One provides genetic material to the other who gestates the offspring for six months (this includes the time before hatching and after being lain for oviparous varieties). Adolescent Denizens take 24 years to reach full maturity regardless of variety.

Optional Features

Arcane Training (3 FP): The Denizen has learned the formal language of mana, allowing them to turn their innate magic into the greater power of a full Mage. The DC for their Casting Checks is reduced by 1. This Feature can be taken multiple times.

Avian (3 FP): The Denizen can move in three dimensions, flying 10 ft. faster than their ground Speed.

If their Speed is 10 ft. they move on land at a Speed of 1 ft. If their Speed is greater than 10 ft., it is reduced by 10 ft. on land.

Specialized Training (1 FP): The result of Casting Checks to achieve a specific variety of effects is increased by 1. An example of such a variety of effects would be healing and flesh shaping, scrying on events or magic object creation. This Feature can be taken multiple times, its effects stacking upon themselves.

Aquatic (0 FP): The Denizen can move three dimensionally in water at their Speed. In addition, they can breathe underwater, as well as air.

If their Speed is 10 ft. they move on land at a Speed of 1 ft. If their Speed is greater than 10 ft., it is reduced by 10 ft. on land.
