The Counterattack - Colin Lee (Juliet Morris Elementary School, 6th Grade)
About 2 months ago, the flying whales attacked. Manny, a particularly intelligent panda, set off to find more resources to complete his creation to end the ongoing war. He trotted to go get permission from his father, a panda named Voo, to find more of an important material for his creation.
“Dad, can I go get some more Memorilum?” This “Memorilum” is a material that is capable of, when melted into a liquid and processed in a certain method, removing memory from any organism’s brain.
“Here, take some bamboo with you.”.
“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll come back soon.”
“Make sure not to trip while you walk again like last time!”
“I won't!”
This creation Manny was making would potentially end the war by making all the flying whales forget why they were attacking. Manny’s creation can also adjust the memory loss scale, that adjusts how much memory is taken from the organism, which helps Manny not to cause too many problems.
Manny jumps over a log to continue on the journey for more Memorilum. Memorilum is a natural resource that is very scarce and hard to find. Manny has to go down a mine far into the world and turns on a machine that bores through the hard rock ground. He finds a cluster of glowy, silver Memorilum. About an hour later, Manny returns. He notices Voo, Manny’s mother Foo, and Manny’s older sister Lenny eating bamboo, grass, and rabbit.
“Manny, come for dinner,” says Foo. “Alright,” replies Manny. After dinner, Manny continues to work on his machine. “Yes! Finally!” he exclaims. “Did you finish it?” questions Lenny. “Yup,” Manny answers. He adjusts the memory loss scale, and he is finished. After weeks of constant work, his creation is finished.
His family and friends come over to the machine to watch it be activated. With a simple flick of a lever, the work is done. All the flying whales seem confused and fly back to the sky clouds, and all the pandas are relieved. Everyone cheers and claps. All the pandas in the bamboo forest dance, as well as the flying whales in the clouds because they are feeling good.
