Lonely Souls - Ariel Lanier (Bob Lanier Middle School, 7th Grade)

For years,

I searched the Earth alone,

Looking for someone,

I could call my own.

Even when the sky turned dark and gray,

I searched, I searched, 

I searched alone.

For another,

Lonely soul.

Day turns to night,

With no avail,

My wings are clipped,

My heart is stale.

Perhaps a partner,

Could bring back joy,

But it seems I will forever be,

A lonely soul, like an abandoned home,

Searching for an owner.

Looking for someone that was,

Never there.
