Pandaenciaga - Phoebe Yoo (Mcauliffe Middle School, 6th Grade)

Patricia was a panda who dreamed of modeling. Ever since Patricia was a cub, she was certain that she wanted to become a model. She would see the beautiful pandas on her TV strutting confidently on the runway. She would always walk up and down her hallway like the models, dressed in her mom’s dresses pretending to walk the runway.  

One fateful day when Patricia was walking home from school, she saw an audition for a modeling agency called Pandaenciaga. Immediately, she grabbed the paper and ran to her house. Patricia was so excited. She promised herself that she would get that job even if she died. Upon arrival at her house, Patricia made a run for her room. As she went onto the Pandaenciaga website on her computer, she noticed all the skinny, pretty panda models posing on the photos displayed. Curious, Patricia checked herself in her mirror. On that day, she realized that if she wanted to get hired for this job, Patricia had to train for it. 

From that day on, she exercised every single day. Burpees, pushups, planks, she did every exercise possible that she could think of. She even went on a meat diet, only eating bamboo per day to get skinny. To practice her modeling skills, Patricia would go on Youtube and imitate the other pandas models posing and strutting. Some times when she felt like it, Patricia would even make up her own types of walks and poses for herself. 

The very next day, it was the cast call for the Pandaenciaga runway. Patricia got ready for her grand entrance. She spent time doing her makeup done, straightening her hair, and even choosing the perfect dress for the event. Upon arrival at the building, she noticed many pandas auditioning for this role. Feeling uneasy, Patricia thought to herself over and over again, “What if I’m not good enough?”. Nervously, she watched the other female pandas walking down the pathway. She observed each and every single pandas, carefully listening to the comments made by judges and applying it to herself. She dozed off, day-dreaming of herself in handmade authentic dresses being able trot the walkway. 

“Patricia Panda please make your way towards the runway” She suddenly heard her name getting called on the speaker. Anxiously, she made her way to the walkway, trying to impress the judges with her cat walk. She posed, tossed her hair back, and walked back. Patricia hoped that she did a great job. After the cast call day, she sat nervously in her chair. She just couldn’t get her mind off things. Just then, 

“Bling!” A notification popped up on Patrica’s computer. 

“Congratulations, you have been chosen out of 30 panda contestants out of 4,000 others to participate in the Pandaenciaga runway! -Pandaenciaga” It read. Ecstatically, Patricia jumped up and down. She was so proud of herself. She finally reached a lifelong dream of hers.
