Keslyn's Poetry - Keslyn Barry (Alabama School of Fine Arts, Tenth Grade)
Lost Harmony
You inhabit my being, yet I receive so little
I provide you with beautiful sceneries, melodies, and fragrances
for you to crave artificial replacements?
You find refuge within my soul
and hack down my limbs leaving silhouettes.
I gift you life, yet you shorten mine.
Take care of me who gives you this experience.
I am giving all I can
Bold and Beautiful
Her clothes are big and her hair is even bigger
She has a prominent large and curvy figure
She never seems ready for any of her pictures
She attracts but never does she chase
She unapologetically takes up space
It’s hard to keep up with her quick pace
She says what’s on her mind
She lets you know when something isn’t right
A girl like her comes in divine time
Her ideas are bold
Her wisdom is gold
She has a vision she has to uphold
She doesn’t need their approval because she knows she is able
She deserves a seat at your table.
To Be Loved By An Artist
To be loved by an artist is a beautiful thing.
Poetry, paintings, pictures
Murals, movies, melodies
Songs, sculptures, sketches
Designs, dances, depictions
Innovation, illusion, ideas
You are the muse. Your legacy will live on.
A Girl And Her Room
Perhaps it's a way of holding onto childhood,
or the connection of her lamps, crystals, and plants
Maybe it is the way her empty water bottles pile up on her bedside table,
or the half-read books she keeps in a basket
Surely it's the way the pillows on her bed look lonely,
or how her candles are begging to be lit
Or is it how the light from the sun spills onto her carpet,
or at night, when the moon illuminates her covers with a comforting grasp
She craves her space
Whenever she isn't in her room, it is always on her mind
Something about a girl and her bond with her room is sublime.
