Solitude 

A single log cabin, 

Covered in a thick sheet of snow, 

Away from the general path up the mountain. 

Isolated from foreign travelers. 

A single man, 

With shaking legs and snowy hair, Steps outside. 

His table is barren. 

His plate is empty. 

With every breath, icicles pierce his lungs. 

He is running out of time. 

Still, when he looks up, 

The vastness of the universe before his eyes, speckled 

with stars in the night sky 

He smiles.
