Melodinus
Seedlings of southern melodinus Melodinus australis are common on our site, appearing soon after a dense canopy of privet is killed. They grow rather as a shrub at first and only slowly take on a climbing habit. Eventually they make large vines that help to close the canopy and provide plenty of fruit for birds.
Note the glossy opposite leaves.
