Hibbertia

Guinea flower Hibbertia scandens has shiny-leaved seedlings that behave as small shrubs at first. Then they produce elongated shoots that twine rather weakly among other supporting vegetation.

The fruit is a compound berry, with separate segments of bright orange flesh, each around a black seed. The flesh looks as if it might be edible, and so it seems at first taste. However, about a minute after trying the fruit, a burning sensation is felt in the lips and tongue. Not recommended!
