My project involved creating colon cancer awareness posters for patients at Gastro Health, a gastroenterology surgical center. The posters were designed in three languages—Creole, English, and Spanish—to reach a more diverse audience. I created three small posters and one large poster to place throughout the facility, highlighting the importance of screenings and explaining screening options like colonoscopy. The goal of my project was to raise awareness about colon cancer and encourage patients to get screened.
What went well with my project was creating clear and informative posters in three languages that could reach a diverse group of patients. I was happy with how the designs turned out and received positive feedback from the staff. One challenge I faced was making sure the translations were accurate and culturally appropriate. To overcome this, I worked with a native speaker to review the translation. By completing this project, I learned how to communicate important health information effectively and helped encourage more people to get screened for colon cancer.
