Project Description
We will be cooking a meal for the residents of Quantum House. Quantum House is a caring and supportive home that helps to ease the burden for families whose children are receiving treatment in Palm Beach County for a serious medical condition.
Purpose
We chose this project because we want to help people who aren't as fortunate as us. If we can help them by doing something as simple as cooking a meal, we want to do that. We hope to help kids and families going through a tough time and make them feel special. The purpose of this project was to help the less fortunate by cooking them dinner. They were beyond grateful and appreciated every pasta and meal we made for them. We chose this project because we came across a hospital called Saint Mary's Hospital which treats children born with short limbs. What they do is lengthen the limb which puts the children and their families into tremendous amounts of pain. People fly here from all over the world to be treated and the least we could do was cook them a nice home cooked meal. In the future we plan to help with this organization again and we are very excited to see the children again with a new meal. We plan to help kids from all over the world by making them nice meals to help comfort them through these tough times. By doing this, we are providing comfort to the children so they can forget about their worries and enjoy a nice meal without any stress. This will help them feel safe and at home.
Reflection
We really enjoyed preparing the meal and speaking with the residents and staff at Quantum House. We made mac and cheese, salad, meatballs, baked ziti, garlic bread, and brought cookies for dessert. One way we grew as leaders during this project was that we planned and organized it with Quantum House. We didn't rely on our parents or teachers to do to for us. Everything ran smoothly! We enjoyed talking with the families, and it was very nice to see how they appreciated the meal.
