Project Description
Avery and Brady went into the aftercare and Homework Club and helped the students there study, and figure out how to do the lesson / homework they are struggling with. They went in every Tuesday through the 3rd and 4th quarter to help.
Purpose
Avery and Brady chose this service project because they wanted to be able to give a helping hand to the teachers working at Homework club, and wanted the kids to learn from someone who might teach it different. They hoped to accomplish a way for kids struggling with studying / homework could get help from someone who can show them easier ways to do it. Homework club is run by both Mrs. Rickards, and Mrs. Schulberg. They contributed to the community by both helping kids with there work, so they had nothing to do after school.
Reflection
We grew as leaders through this project by having the opportunity to help smaller children and guide them through their homework. We learned how to help young ones with their work and how to explain concepts to them. Our struggles in this service project was coordination. It was hard for us to meet the homework club at the right place and the right time due to them coming in at different times. Our success was the ability to help every kid with their homework who asked.Â
