Project Description
My name is Brody, and I am an 8th grader at St. Mark's. For my project, I have been helping Mrs. Schulberg in Aftercare with the homework club. Every Wednesday, I go for an hour to offer help to any students in homework club that may need it. I chose this project because I love helping others, and one way to do so is by offering my time and knowledge to others. I hoped to accomplish service to help my school's community and others by offering my time.
Purpose
The purpose of this project was to offer assistance to the younger children in aftercare. The Homework Club is a group that Mrs. Schulberg runs every day after school, and sometimes the amount of students that attend can be overwhelming for her. So, I offer my assistance once a week to help out the younger children at Saint Mark's with their homework.
Reflection
I learned that helping others is very rewarding, and tutoring others can be fun. Homework is something that very few kids enjoy doing, especially while they are still at school with their friends. I learned that keeping students engaged helps with getting them motivated to finish their work. I worked towards the pillars of Service and Scholarship with my project because I used the knowledge that I attained at Saint Mark's, and spent time sharing it with younger students and offering help.
