Katie and Joe made fried chicken on New Years Eve, December 2016
Katie's mom's recipe
Ingredients:
Chicken
Salt
Pepper
2 cups buttermilk
Self Rising Flour
Vegetable Oil
Directions:
1) Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper
2) Soak in large ziplock bags of buttermilk for at least 2 hours
3) Shake chicken in bags of flour
Pour oil to a depth of 1 1/2 inches in electric skillet and heat to 360 degrees
Cook covered for 6 minutes. Uncover and cook 9 minutes.
Turn chicken and cover and cook for 6 minutes. Uncover and cook 5-9 minutes
Drain and enjoy
Chicken Gravy
1) Drain grease from pan, reserving crunchy bits on bottom
2) In a cup, mix 2 tbsp's flour with 1/2 cup hot water
3) Slowly add to pan drippings on low heat, stirring constantly until smooth
4) Slowly add milk. Continue to stir until it reaches desired consistency
5) Salt and pepper to taste
