The story of the people of the ditch describes the massacre in 100 BH 524 CE 524 AD of Christians who would not renounce their religion in the city of Al-Ukhdood meaning the ditch, the trench, the groove which surround the city as a defensive barrier..
Al-Ukhdood is the old city of Najran not the new city of Najran.
Al-Ukhdood is the old city of Najran and today is located at Al-Qabel village near the southern end of the Najran valley.
Al-Ukhdood today is an Archeological city and its ruins are studied.
The persecution and massacre of Christians who refused the order to convert or die was conducted by the Army of the Jewish King of Yemen Yusuf As'ar Yath'ar (Dimnon, Dounaas, Dunaan, Dhu Nuwas, Dzu Nuwas, Masraq, Masruk, Yusuf Dhu Nuwas, Zunawas, Zur'ah Yusuf Ibn Tuban As'ad Abi Karib) ruler of the Tubba nation in Southern Arabia today in Yemen.
The Tubba nation refers to the rulers of Saba and Himyar.
The Jewish King of Yemen Yusuf As'ar Yath'ar was not born Jewish but adopted Judaism and took the name Joseph Yusuf when he took the throne from 110 - 101 BH, 515 - 525 CE, 515 - 525 AD.
Trade in Frankincense passed through Al-Ukhdood on camal caravans to Makkah and then to Syria and to Palestine and Mesopotamia and the Arabia Gulf.

3. Christians who follow the Gospels and believe the Quran are correctly observing the Gospel Injil.

But He (God) tests you (the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims) by what He (God) has given you (in the Torah Taurat and the Gospel Injil of Jesus Isa by Mark, Matthew, Luke and John and the Koran Quran to show who is best in behaviour). So strive for all that is good. To God you shall all return and He (God) shall then inform you (in the Hereafter) about (the correctness of) the religious matters in which you (the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims) argue among each other.

We (God) warn (people to do what is good and avoid what is evil) and make them afraid (of God by describing the home for evil doers in Hell Fire Jahannam in the Hereafter) but it only increases them (some of the humans) in nothing but greater disobedience against God (and the commandment to do what is good and avoid what is evil).
