The Quran Chapter 63 The Hypocrites (Al-Munafiqoon, Al-Munaafeqoon, Al-Munafiqun, Munaafiquun) in English.

Chapter : Verse.

(Information in brackets is added to assist readers in the interpretation of the verse).

Quran 63:0 Koran 63:0 Verse 63:0 Ayah 63:0 Ayat 63:0 Aya 63:0 In the name of God, The Most Kind, The Most Merciful.

Quran 63:1 Koran 63:1 Verse 63:1 Ayah 63:1 Ayat 63:1 Aya 63:1 When the hypocrites (who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad but they really do not believe) come to you (Prophet Muhammad) and they say, “We swear (an oath) that you are God’s messenger.” And God knows that you (Prophet Muhammad) are indeed His (God’s) messenger, and God swears (an oath) that the hypocrites are speaking falsely (when they claim they have faith in God).

Comment 1. Hypocrites swear falsely that they believe in God.

Quran 63:2 Koran 63:2 Verse 63:2 Ayah 63:2 Ayat 63:2 Aya 63:2 They (the hypocrites who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad but they really do not believe) have make their oath (of belief in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad) a cover (in which they can hid their disbelief) so that they may turn (people away) from the way of God. What they do is evil.

Quran 63:3 Koran 63:3 Verse 63:3 Ayah 63:3 Ayat 63:3 Aya 63:3 That is because they (the hypocrites who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad said they) believed (in God) and then they disbelieved (in God), therefore their hearts are sealed (from accepting the belief in God) so that they do not understand (the guidance of God).

Quran 63:4 Koran 63:4 Verse 63:4 Ayah 63:4 Ayat 63:4 Aya 63:4 And when you (Prophet Muhammad) see them (the hypocrites who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad but they really do not believe), their appearance pleases you (Prophet Muhammad) and when they speak, you (Prophet Muhammad) listen to their words as if their words are (firmly) supported timbers (strong and solid). But (secretly) they (the hypocrites) imagine that every call is (a threat) against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. God has condemned them so that they are deluded (without God’s guidance).

Quran 63:5 Koran 63:5 Verse 63:5 Ayah 63:5 Ayat 63:5 Aya 63:5 And when it is said to them (the hypocrites who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad but they really do not believe), “Come, The messenger of God shall ask forgiveness (from God) for you, they shake their heads and you sees them turning away in arrogance.

Comment 1. The Hypocrites reject the offer of forgiveness from God.

Quran 63:6 Koran 63:6 Verse 63:6 Ayah 63:6 Ayat 63:6 Aya 63:6 It makes no difference to them (the hypocrites who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad but they really do not believe) if you (Prophet Muhammad) ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them because God shall not forgive them. God does not guide people who are disobedient (to God).

Comment 1. God shall not forgive the hypocrites because they lie to God and His messenger.

It makes no difference if you Prophet Muhammad ask forgiveness for the hypocrites at their funeral after their natural death or do not ask forgiveness for them at their funeral after their natural death because God shall not forgive them.

See Quran 63:8.

Quran 63:7 Koran 63:7 Verse 63:7 Ayah 63:7 Ayat 63:7 Aya 63:7 They (the hypocrites who say they believe in God and God’s messenger Prophet Muhammad but they really do not believe) are the ones who say, "Spend nothing on those who are with God’s messenger until they leave (the messenger)." However the treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to God (not to people and so God distributes God’s bounty to whoever God wills) but the hypocrites do not understand (this).

Comment 1. The hypocrites do not spend their wealth and lives for the cause of God.

Quran 63:8 Koran 63:8 Verse 63:8 Ayah 63:8 Ayat 63:8 Aya 63:8 They (the hypocrites such as Abdullah bin Ubayy, Abdullah ibn Ubayy in 5 AH 626 CE 626 AD) say, “When we return to the town (Yathrib in Arabia later Medina Arabia today Madinah Saudi Arabia), the honourable (those who were born in Yathrib) shall surely drive out the contemptible (those who were not born in Yathrib).” However all honour belongs to God and to His (God’s) messenger and to the believers but the hypocrites do not know (that everything is decided by God including who are the honourable).

Comment 1. Abdullah bin Ubayy, Abdullah ibn Ubayy was a leader of a group in Banu Khazraj and the leader in hypocrisy.

God revealed Quran 9:84 to correct Prophet Muhammad after Prophet Muhammad attended the funeral of Abdullah bin Ubayy, Abdullah ibn Ubayy in 9AH 631 CE 631 AD.

Quran 9:84 Verse 9:84 And (Prophet Muhammad) never pray for any of them (the hypocrites) who have died nor stand at their grave. They disbelieved in God and His (God’s) messenger and they died while they were wrongdoers.

See Quran 63:6

Quran 63:9 Koran 63:9 Verse 63:9 Ayah 63:9 Ayat 63:9 Aya 63:9 All you who believe, Do not let your wealth or your children distract you from remembering (to pray to) God. Those who do (by forgetting God) are the losers (in the Hereafter).

Comment 1. Do not forget to pray to God.

Quran 63:10 Koran 63:10 Verse 63:10 Ayah 63:10 Ayat 63:10 Aya 63:10 And spend (in the way of God) from what We (God) have provided to you before death comes to one of you who says (on the Day of Resurrection and Judgement of Hell for the wicked), “My Lord (God) If only you would delay (death for) me for a short time so that I can (correct myself and) give charity and be among the righteous.”

Comment 1. Do not forget to give charity for your love of God.

Quran 63:11 Koran 63:11 Verse 63:11 Ayah 63:11 Ayat 63:11 Aya 63:11 But God does not delay (death for) any soul when its time (of death) has come and God knows what you do (meaning every human has only one life on the earth in which they can choose good or evil behaviour).
