<----This is the icon for ENPS. Click here to get started.
Note the task bar across the bottom of your screen.
Click each icon for these actions:
"WIRES": various AP wires.
"PERSONAL": write stories and save them. (More about how to do that ahead.) And personalize ENPS.
"HOME": recent and current rundowns
"ENTERPRISE": search other station rundowns/scripts.
"MESSAGE CENTER": send messages to other ENPS users. (Not used often.)
"CONTACTS" (Not used)
"PLANNING CALENDAR" (Not used.)
"MOS" - right clicking on that icon gets you started on supers. (CLICK HERE FOR MORE ABOUT THAT.)
"DASHBOARD" brings up several columns of wires, and is rarely used.
The best way to find "today's" rundowns is to use "CTRL-R." All of the day's rundowns will pop up - you select the one you need to work in. If you need a "special" rundown or a recent rundown, just click the "HOME" icon - all most recent & special rundowns will come up.
Click on the show you need to work in. The best way to see the whole rundown is to click the square above the rundown - see picture below.
You will be starting with a template for the show you are producing. Most templates indicate what kind of stories go where.
Here are some SHOW TIPS if you are filling in on a different show.
Once you've expanded your rundown, it's time to create scripts for stories. Every command needs it's own line - so for a VOSOTVO (seen below), note that you need an INTRO line, a VO line, and the SOTVO line. To create single lines, hit CTRL-I. To make a block of scripts (as seen below), hit CTRL-SHIFT-I. If you need to delete a line, use CTRL-SHIFT-D.
Make sure you have your rundown set up the way you like it. CLICK HERE FOR CUSTOMIZING A RUNDOWN.
Let's look at the story below - -a VOSOTVO.
Click on the line in which you'd like to work. Your screen will split. CLICK HERE TO VIEW "BUILDING SCRIPTS."
Page numbers are on the far left. The slug for the story is "KCPS COVID." You can see next to each script what goes where, and that Abby is reading it. So, where it says intro - that's the anchor intro. D26 is where you write your VO. D27 is where you write your SOTVO. If you need to float the SOTVO, put a checkmark in the float column. The line will turn red.
BE SURE TO SAVE! "CTRL S" (Set up your personal macros to have a quick key for "SAVE AND CLOSE." It's the best way to save a script and move on.) Macro information below.
See where it says "LINKED?" That's where the producer creates a MOS Object for video. If it says "LINKED", your video is online. If it says "NOT READY", video is NOT online. If it says nothing, don't forget to create a MOS Object. (Create a macro for inputting MOS Objects - it's so helpful!)
ALSO -- note the numbers to the right. Those are the times given for for the script. The first set of numbers is the time the producer gave for each line. The numbers next to it are the "actual" times. (So, if you put in a package for 1:30 - and you see "actual" says :56 - you may want to adjust the time to 1:00.) The last sets of numbers are the front time and back time. So, this VOSOTVO is hitting around 5:35.
Scripting is so much easier with macros! You can have some quick buttons to automatically fill in something like "TAKE SOT". You can also make a PERSONAL macro for your liveshots or anchors, it would say, for example, "LIVE SHANNON" or "LOREN."
Again, there are two types of macros - GROUP FUNCTION KEYS, and PERSONAL macros. GROUP FUNCTION KEY are used by everyone. That's where you'll get a "TAKE VO" (SHIFT-F1), etc. You can create PERSONAL macros that only you use.
15 MINUTES BEFORE AIR - FREEZE YOUR PAGE NUMBERS! (Or see if your director wants to do it.)
"PRODUCTION" tab - first icon on the left.
INCLUDES HOW TO INDICATE THE SHOTS IN YOUR RUNDOWN.
Scroll to end of "ENPS FOR REPORTERS."
