There are two ways to get to Bit Central. One way is through the app on your desktop - (seen on the left) that's where to find "active" video. To find "stored" video, you'll need to open the "file" on your taskbar at the bottom of your screen, near the Windows logo. The list that pops up when you open the file is on your right. -->
Let's look at stored video first. Click on "CORE MEDIA" (the X drive.) If you click on the "CAMERA" folder (see left picture), you'll find the most recent uploaded video, listed by date. You can click on it to watch it.
The other folder most often used is "LONG TERM VIDEO." (Below) This is wear people are storing video they want to save. So, special shoots will typically use this folder. Seen below.
Now let's get into the app. Below is the page that typically pops up first. (ASSETS) This is a list of video inside Bit Central - including edited video for rundowns.
Most often you will use the search bar towards the top to search for video with a keyword. Let's say you searched for the 8AM SCREENING ROOM PKG. If you need to tell the editor where to find it, use that title so they can search and easily bring it up. You can click on it and watch it. You can see, next to the thumbnail, that it is a 3:00 package. Sometimes when you click on the the thumbnail, you will also get a script, but not always.
Now let's go to the RUNDOWNS tab. What you see below is what opens.
Everything in green is attached to a show, as labeled.
Looking at the list below, all the video is in the rundown - except the 6AM SOTVO on the MO 2nd Amendment.
Use the arrows at the very bottom of the screen to see more video.
You can attach video to your rundown through Bit Central.
For example, if the graphics department puts a graphic for you in Bit, you can push it to your rundown. Here's how.
Click the box on the far left, next to the thumbnail.
Then go up to the upper right and drop down the menu from "ACTIONS"
Click on "ATTACH TO PRECIS."
This box will pop up. Drop down the menu where it says "BACKUP OPENS" and choose the show you want the video to go in.
Click on the slug of the story that needs the video. (It should be black.) Once you select it, it will turn green - showing you've attached it.
See "Kelly Test Pkg" It is green and good to go.
You can also upload video from Latakoo to your rundown in Bit Central. Click for how.
The INGEST tab will take you to the MEDIA ENCODER, where you can record video from a router, for example a show, a newser, or a live feed. (In the "CREATE" tab, click on the MEDIA ENCODER file to see recently recorded video.) However, to do it, you have to click on the 'down arrow' next to the word "INGEST." Then these four screens will pop up. In the picture, the top two screens are PCR (coming from the control room.) The bottom left is the sports DVR. And the bottom right is Web Server 4.
To record, use the drop down where it says "All Sources" and choose your source. In the example, we choose LIVEU 3.
Choose how long you'd like the recording to go. "Duration."
Name your file / ex. "LIVEU 3 MEYER ST. FIRE"
Press the "RECORD" button.
