WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON, YOU CAN FILL IN IMPORTANT SCRIPTING COMMANDS THAT YOU USE ALL THE TIME.
HERE'S HOW THAT WORKS.
CLICK ON THE "HAMBURGER" THE TOP OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN. (You need to have a rundown open.)
Then select "OPTIONS" and go to "MACRO SETTINGS."
THIS WILL POP UP:
You should not do anything with "GROUP FUNCTION KEYS" - these are used by everyone. You can use them, too, but don't change them. So, take note of the "GROUP FUNCTION KEYS" - those are, again, most commonly used by everyone. So, if, for example, you were writing a VO, you would first put in the ANCHOR NAME, then you'd put in TAKE VO. ANCHOR NAMES are PERSONAL macros, TAKE VO is a GROUP macro. You'd use SHIFT-F1 to automatically enter TAKE VO. To create personal macros, consider which things you use most often that are not already listed in the GROUP FUNCTION KEYS.
Let's create personal macros. Most often, personal macros are anchor names for producers based on the shows they do. Reporters can use them for anchors also. Or to enter: TAKE LIVE/REPORTERNAME. Or perhaps to SAVE AND CLOSE - which is very handy.
Look at the box labeled "SAVED MACROS" on the lower left. Here's a picture:
Everything that can be made into a macro is in this box. (In no particular order.) Let's say you'd like to make F2 (refer to your personal function keys) your quick-key for SAVE AND CLOSE.
In the box, it is the third choice down the list. Just drag and drop it to the personal key you want it to be associated with. So, if you'd like F2 to be SAVE AND CLOSE, just drag SAVE AND CLOSE from the Saved Macros box to your personal macros and drop into F2.
SAVE and CLOSE is highly recommended as a personal macro. But again, you can drop it in ANY function key. Once you have created all the personal macros you want to have, DON'T FORGET TO CLICK "SAVE."
Did you forget what your personal macros are? Follow the instructions at the top of this page to bring them up. You can snip a screen shot and print them out to refer to until you have them memorized.
