<----This is the icon for ENPS. Click here to get started.
LOG IN: USERNAME: initial last name (bsmith) PASSWORD: Your personal Nexstar password.
Note the task bar across the bottom of your screen.
Click each icon for these actions:
"WIRES": various AP wires.
"PERSONAL": write stories and save them. (More about how to do that ahead.)
"HOME": recent and current rundowns
"ENTERPRISE": search other station rundowns/scripts.
"MESSAGE CENTER": send messages to other ENPS users. (Not used often.)
"CONTACTS" (Not used)
"PLANNING CALENDAR" (Not used.)
"MOS" - right clicking on that icon gets you started on supers. (CLICK HERE FOR MORE ABOUT THAT.)
"DASHBOARD" brings up several columns of wires, and is rarely used.
The best way to find "today's" rundowns is to use "CTRL-R." All of the day's rundowns will pop up - you select the one you need to work in. If you need a "special" rundown or a recent rundown, just click the "HOME" icon - all most recent & special rundowns will come up.
Click on the show you need to work in. The best way to see the whole rundown is to click the square above the rundown - see picture below.
Once you've expanded your rundown, find the scripts for your story. Let's look at the reporter story below - an INTRO-LIVE-VO-LIVE
Page numbers are on the far left. The slug for the story is "430AM HOMICIDE KCMO KATHY." You can see next to each script what goes where. So, where it says boxes - that's the anchor intro. (It says "BOXES" because our anchor are currently on 2-boxes for intros.) Skip the "stinger" line. E11 is where you write your LIVE INTRO. E12 is where you write your VO. You can see - the producer had planned for a SOT -- that line is where the SOT information would have gone. But it is red - meaning the producer has floated the SOT, and this is just a LIVE VO. Write your LIVE TAG in E14. If you were to write a package - a line would be there that has "PKG" next to it between the LIVE INTRO and LIVE TAG. BE SURE TO SAVE! "CTRL S" (Set up your personal macros to have a quick key for "SAVE AND CLOSE." It's the best way to save a script and move on.)
See where it says "LINKED"? That's where the producer creates your MOS Object for your video. If it says "LINKED", your video is online. IF it says "NOT READY", video is NOT online. If it says nothing, ask your producer to create a MOS Object for you.
ALSO -- note the numbers to the right. Those are the times given for for the report.
Double click on the line you want to work in, and your screen will split. You are now ready to BUILD SCRIPTS.
Scripting is so much easier with macros! Your producer may put in the script commands for you - but if not, you can have some quick buttons to automatically fill in something like "TAKE SOT". You can also make a PERSONAL macro for your liveshots, it would say, for example, "LIVE SHANNON."
There are two types of macros - GROUP FUNCTION KEYS, and PERSONAL macros. GROUP FUNCTION KEY are used by everyone. That's where you'll get a "TAKE VO" (SHIFT-F1), etc. You can create PERSONAL macros that only you use.
RIGHT click on the "Personal" icon in the action bar at the bottom of your ENPS screen. Choose "NEW STORY."
<<A script opens. Double click in the "UNTITLED" tab to name your story. You can see a story has been titled, "SAVED STORY." There's another tab open for a story, still called "UNTITLED." Type in your script where it says "STORY GOES HERE."
Be sure to SAVE your story. You can find it again, by clicking on the "PERSONAL" folder. Your most recent work will be at the top.
