Barcelona Summer Design Studio 2015
Students from the 6-week Summer 2015 Urban Practice Studio were tasked with designing a space for a specific person. It’s the open-ended design problems that tend to be the most challenging and rewarding. Students chose the person and chose a site, if the space was to be site-specific, and from there developed the program. One student chose their brother as their muse and designed a recovery center grounded in art and gallery spaces for them.
Halfway through the studio, Eric Jenkins led the students on a sketching trip through Barcelona. The urban experiential drawings had a very strong influence on how the students designed the progressions through their own studio projects.
