i was honored to design the citro pavlion for my alma mater, archbishop curley high school, in baltimore.
the citro pavilion, a combination press box, development room, and gathering space, was a fulfilling collaboration with friend evan wivell, founder of eastwing architects and executed masterfully by pat fitzgerald of a.r. marani contracting.
the pavilion sits proudly at the top of the terraced stadium "bowl" as we integrated the pavilion into the existing terraces so that entry is at grade at the rear but elevated toward the field.
the design emerged from the school's mid century modern 1960s design with brick planes, slender columns, and curtain walls. more than a press box, the citro pavilion is designed to be a place for curley brothers past, present, and future: the "porch" is for alumni receptions, the press box is for current students in the media studies, and the development and recruiting room is for prospective students.
