these are a series of small design projects in our charles goodman-designed home in river park. developed by the reynolds aluminum company in 1961 to promote the use of metals in residential construction, river park was an experiment in mid-century urban and architectural design. the renovations shown here include the kitchen-dining-living level, upper level bathroom, and the dining room table. along with consultations with architectural firms, small projects like these keep me involved in practice but are also part of a more urban approach to architecture: looking at the context and using it to inform spatial and material choices or how givens inform design. the intention is to satisfy contemporary needs while working with historic fabric that is at once urban and architectural.
