advanced architectural analysis
students in this seminar discussed and employed advanced analytic and synthetic concepts, methods and tools to understand and translate the designed environment. media included but was not limited to collage, painting, charcoal and color pencil. the overall intentions were to expand the means and methods of analytical and synthetic thinking, develop a discourse on critical observation and produce advanced and varied analytical studies of the designed environment. topics discussed in include the architect as bricoleur and the role of bricolage in terms of collage, baudelaire’s concept of the flâneur and the city, vidler’s concept of the uncanny, mapping, walter benjaimin’s dialectics of seeing, heidegger’s concepts of dwelling, place & environment and color theory and architecture.
