analytical sketches

these sketches are primarily analytical in nature: they are attempts to observe and hopefully better understand a building, place or thing through the drawing act. more than that, however, analytical drawings help me contemplate, to imagine and to engage in a kind of proto-design. this proto-design is akin to piano practice in which the players warms up so that they can play and improvise without thinking.
