Cricut Maker 3

The Cricut Maker 3 has a power adapter, USB cable, Premium Fine Point Blade, and housing. To help crafters with their first project, Cricut also provides sample materials and a free trial subscription to Cricut Access membership. Unfortunately, the machine doesn’t have a rotary blade or a Cricut pen, which were available with an older version of Cricut Maker and two cutting mats. Cricut Explore 3

Cricut Explore 3 falls between Maker 3 and Cricut Joy. It is the same size as Cricut Maker 3 but is less powerful. Like Cricut Maker 3 in the Cricut Explore 3 box, you get a power adapter, USB cable, Premium Fine Point Blade, and housing. In the box, you will find sample materials and a Free trial subscription to Cricut Access membership. You don’t get a rotary Cricut pen or LightGrip cutting mat. These items were included in the Cricut Explore Air 2 package. So purchasing a Cricut Explore 3 bundle is advisable as you get all the essential tools and accessories, including smart materials, Cricut pens, and an Essential toolset.

Cricut Joy

Cricut Joy is the smaller sibling of Cricut Maker and Explore. Compared to its bigger siblings, Cricut Joy is compact and has fewer accessories. You will find a power adapter, Fine Point Pen, StandardGrip Mat, its blade, sample materials, and housing in the Cricut Joy box. A USB cable is not included in the package, as it can only be connected via Bluetooth.

How to Set Up a Brand New Cricut Machine for the First Time?

You must find a spot in your craft room to place your new Cricut machine. The Cricut setup process is straightforward, but with our guidance, it can be a breeze if you follow your instructions carefully. Now, plug the power cord into the back of your new Cricut machine. The USB port is located on the right side of Cricut Maker 3 and Explore 3. Plug the USB cable into the USB port to connect to your computer or mobile. You can skip this step with Cricut Joy, as it doesn’t have a USB port.

Lift the cover of Cricut Maker 3 to open the machine. When you lift the cover, the front door will open automatically. The carriage or tool clamps will be wrapped around with protective foam; remove it. In the case of Cricut Explore 3, press the Open button on the top of the machine to open it. The lid will lift, and the front door will open automatically. Like Cricut Maker 3, the carriage or tool clamps will be wrapped around with protective foam, which you can remove. You must follow the same process with Cricut Joy that you used for Cricut Maker 3.

How to Activate Your New Cricut Machine?

You will need Cricut Design space to activate your machine; you won’t be requiring the Design Space to use your Cricut machine every time. Download and install the Design Space app into your smart device, as the Cricut Design Space web portal is no longer available. To download and install the app, open your web browser and visit Cricut.com/setup.

When the installation file is downloaded, double-click the file and start the installation process. Once you have installed Design Space, follow the on-screen instructions to create and sign in with a Cricut ID. On the next screen, select your machine. Turn on your Cricut machine and connect it to your Cricut machine via USB cable or Bluetooth. In the case of Cricut, Joy can only connect it via Bluetooth.

Design Space will update your machine, which will take some time. Then you will be prompted to register your machine. You will also be asked if you want to give a free trial of Cricut Access Membership a try. When prompted to do your first project, you successfully completed the Cricut setup process.
