Design Space is the app that lets you design and create unique DIY projects with your Cricut machine. Whether you want to make custom cards, stickers, home decor, or personalized gifts, this software helps you bring your ideas to life. You can use it on computers and mobiles, so you can design at home or on the go. Here, I am going to show you how to perform the Cricut Design Space download and installation on Windows and Mac computers, as well as on iOS and Android devices. After that, I will also explain how to set up your machine and get started with your craft projects.
To use Design Space on a computer/smartphone, your system needs to meet some basic requirements. For Windows PCs, you need Windows 10 or later, at least a dual-core processor, 4GB RAM, 2GB free storage, a USB port or Bluetooth, and a screen resolution of at least 1024x768. Mac users need macOS 12 or later with similar specs. For iPads and iPhones, iOS 16 or later is required, while Android devices need version 10 or higher. A stable internet connection with at least 2–3 Mbps download and 1–2 Mbps upload is recommended, and memory usage may vary depending on your DIY projects.
You can easily download the Design Space software for your Windows or Mac computer. Below, I will show you how to download and install the app on your computer:
First, make sure you have an internet connection.
After that, open a browser and go to design.cricut.com or cricut.com/setup, then enter your machine model.
Now, you have to check the box to agree to Cricut’s Terms of Use and Policy, and click the Download button.
Once the download finishes, open the file from your browser or Downloads folder.
On Windows: Double-click the downloaded file, then trust the app if asked, and follow the setup window to install. After the installation process, you need to sign in with your Cricut ID by using your username and password.
On Mac: Double-click the .dmg file in your Downloads folder. Next, drag the Cricut icon to the Applications folder to install. After that, you should open the software from Applications, then confirm any security prompts, and sign in with your Cricut account ID. Now, you can drag the app to your dock for quicker access.
Once installed, you are ready to start using Design Space on your Windows or Mac computer.
You can use the Design Space app on your smartphone or tablet with a compatible iOS or Android device.

After that, search for “Cricut Design Space,” and look for the white square with “Cricut” in the center.
Now, tap the Get button to download, and enter your iTunes password if prompted.
Once you download the app, open it, sign in with your account, or start a Machine Setup.

After installation, the application will appear with your other apps.

Important note: The app is not supported on Chromebooks or Unix/Linux devices, so make sure your device meets the system requirements.
After downloading Design Space, setting up your machine is simple and quick. Here, I will show you step-by-step instructions for the setup process:
Initially, open the Design Space app on your computer or mobile device.
Then, sign in with your existing Cricut ID or create a new account when prompted.
Now, you have to plug in and power on your crafting machine.
After that, connect it to your device using the USB cable or a wireless Bluetooth connection.
Next, you should select your product type (e.g., Smart Cutting Machine) in the app.
Perform the steps shown on your device’s screen to set up and activate your machine.
The Design Space software will automatically check for and install any updates for your software and the machine.
Your Cricut cutting machine will be registered and activated during this procedure.
Follow the app’s guidance to place the vinyl on the machine and confirm the blade is in place.
Complete the test cut, then peel away the vinyl to check for a successful cut.
To install the Cricut app on your iPad, start by opening the App Store. In the search bar, type Design Space and look for the official app. After that, tap the Get button to download it, and if needed, you have to confirm the download using your Apple ID or Face/Touch ID. Once the app is installed, open it and either sign in with your existing Cricut ID or create a new account. Now, complete the steps on your screen to set up your machine and start using it.
The Design Space software works on Windows and Mac computers, and also on iPhones, iPads, and Android phones or tablets. It does not work on Chromebooks or Linux/Unix devices. To get the best performance, you need to use a device with an up-to-date operating system and enough memory and processing power, as the app’s basic requirements can change over time.
Design Space may not work on your PC if the app is outdated, your internet connection is poor, the cache is corrupted, or there’s a conflict with your system. To resolve this, try restarting your device, closing all Design Space tasks from the Task Manager, and reconnecting to the internet. If the issue still continues, then update or reinstall the app, clear its cache, and check your computer’s security settings for anything that might block it.
