When the Cricut Design Space tells you the device cannot find the cut sensor marks. It means the image or photos you are trying to cut is set to print and then cut. The device is searching for the print and then cut sensor marks that will give permission to cut the image correctly. If you did not want to print and then cut, and would rather cut only, you can simply change your image from a print line type to a Cut line type. Carefully follow all the instructions found here to change the image line type.
Note: Cut images or photos do not keep any inner colors or patterns, so if you require to keep inner cut routes. You have to make sure to delete the correct sections of the image at the time of the cleanup step to make the desired to cut off your image.
Tip: You can stop this problem with uploaded images by selecting Save as a Cut image before saving the images to your collection.
There are various types of variables that can interfere with your Cricut Explore or Cricut Maker device’s ability to read the print and then cut sensor marks properly.
Overhead reading lamps, direct sunlight, or other lighting directed toward your Cricut device may interfere with the device’s print and then cut sensor light. Protection walls the Print Then Cut sensor light from the turn of any direct lighting or direct lightning, and re-try the cut.
All printable objects must be located in the upper left corner of the cutting mat adhesive field, aligned with the mat grid markings, and applied easily or smoothly. Wrinkles in the materials or incorrect mat placement may interfere with reading the cut sensor marks.
Test your Cricut device mat that has been located under the mat guides, and make sure that the mat is placed snugly against the device’s rollers before clicking the load button on the device.
Is the Cricut mat bent? A crease or bend in the mat can affect a failure to read the cut sensor marks. Click down on the bend if possible as your device scans cut sensor marks, or remove the sheet. Move mat 180-degrees, reapply the sheet to the opposite end of the mat, and reattempt the cut.
Non-letter-sized objects, colored materials, or items having any type of pattern may interfere with the device’s ability to read the cut sensor marks.
You have to make sure that the design or images fit inside the 6.75 in x 9.25 cutting field for the Print Then Cut project. If bigger than those dimensions resize to adjust within those dimensions and re-try your Print Then Cut project.
Check that the Print Then Cut sensor light comes on during scanning for Print Then Cut sensor makings. It is placed on the underside of the carriage. If that light does not come on during the scanning of the Print, Then Cut sensor marks, contact the Cricut help center.
You have to make sure that your system takes the minimum system requirements for the Cricut Design Space application. If it does not take those requirements, try your Print Then Cut project with a system that does take requirements.
Print your image or photo again, ensuring the paper size is set to letter and that you have not chosen any page scaling options like Fit to Shrink or Page to fit. The page requires printing in the correct size. If this does not help go to the next steps.
The first thing to verify when the Cricut device will not connect to the Cricut Design Space application is the internet speed. To utilize the Cricut device with Design Space, your internet download speed must be at least 2 Mbps, and the lowest upload speed is 1 to 2 Mbps. Drive an internet speed test to regulate if yours is up to these suggested speeds.
Ensure that you are utilizing a Cricut device brand blade. Then verify the blade and blade housing and delete any debris that may be stopped to the blade or lodged in the blade housing. You have to make sure to change the blade housing back into your device correctly. Once clear, perform a test cut.
If you are attached to the internet, the Cricut Design Space application for Desktop is automatically attached to the Cricut’s servers. If your internet goes out or you disconnect from the internet, you will get a notification that you are working offline and the “Offline” icon will show in the upper left corner of the display.
