Apple or Samsung: Who is Producing the Best Cheap Phones?
Buying a new phone is a challenging task as there are various options to explore with different brands. From Apples to Samsung or from Vivo to Oppo, we have many options to decide. There are a few things one should consider before jumping into a decision about buying a phone. Below is the list of the things to keep in mind to have a better purchase experience:

The most commonly used brands to purchase are Samsung and Apple. Both the brands have a different vision of what makes an affordable phone worthwhile. Apple wants to drag your attention towards its ecosystem; on the other hand, Samsung is all about providing premium features at a lower price range.
Both companies put a virtual keynote to announce new phones in a range of hundreds of dollars below the headline. The primary approach was on full display over the past two weeks. Apple was the first to announce the iPhone SE with a price range of $429. Samsung introduced the Galaxy A-53 5-G with a price range of $450.
Prioritize Low-Cost Technology
Apple focuses on providing the latest processor at a lower value price even if its design and camera are less versatile. On the contrary, Samsung’s budget phones typically run on less power chips than its Galaxy S phones. They are primarily in modern designs that create more confusion with more expensive devices available in the market.
Apple SE for the sake of iPhone
It’s similar to the four-year-old iPhone 8. It has a physical home button with bezels located above and below the screen and comes with a 4.7-inch display, which considerably makes it even smaller than the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini. Apple SE is also available with the one-camera option of 12 mega-pixels.
These few features seem dated, but what it has inside counts. The best part is that it runs with the same a-15 Bionic processor as the new iPhone 13. It boosts up the performance, but the new chip will support new iOS features for coming years. While iOS 15 runs in old phones like 6S but the new iPhone is fully loaded with the new chip. It’s not about providing techs like a depth scanner, multi-lens camera, or vibrant OLED screen, and it’s for people who want an iPhone to fulfill their basic everyday tasks at a lower price range.
Galaxy is trying to imitate more expensive phones.
Being in a lower price range, it is still far distinguishable from Samsung’s more expensive phones like Galaxy S21 FE. Its design is almost like most recent phones that nearly cover the entire front of the device with a whole-punch-shaped cutout for the selfie camera. Its main motive is to bring high-end features to a more affordable price. The screen boosts refresh rate up to 120 Hz for smoother scrolling, which is available for the most expensive phones.
Comparing the technologies
Comparing the two, I concluded that iPhone SE has a standard 12- megapixel camera lens. iPhone 13 pro and iPhone 13 pro max are the only two phones that can crank up their screens’ refresh rates.
Like most of the phones of Samsung, the Galaxy A-53 5G lacks a telephoto lens for closer zooming. Though Samsung is doing a great job of closing the gap between its budget and premium phones than Apple, it doesn’t benefit from having the same processor as its high-end siblings as the iPhone SE does.
After comparing the chips of both the phones, A-53, 5G works on Exynos 1280 chip using a 5-nanometer manufacturing process just like the processor inside iPhone 13 and Pixel 6. A small nano-meter measurement means more transistors, resulting in more power and energy efficiency. Samsung’s A-series has proven to be the most popular one. According to the CNET report, A-series accounted for 58% of sales in 2021, which I consider is a good score. A12 also landed on the list of best-selling phones along with its competitor iPhone SE.
Both the phones are just more than cheap smartphones technology in the market. For Samsung, the conclusion is more battery life, a large screen, and multiple cameras. Apple, on the other hand, is focused on providing a similar performance with more premium iPhone offers.
Although both the phones look good and have excellent displays, the Samsung Galaxy A-53, with its larger full HD+ Display and higher refresh rate, and more variety of colors like blue and peach, attracts its fans more. You can opt for Apple SE if you look for hand comfortable use. Samsung comes with a better RAM of 6 and 8 GB while Apple just has 4GB of RAM, but yes, they need less RAM than most of the android phones generally. Talking about the special features, both have 5G, but Apple SE supports sub-6-GHz, not mmWave which means you won’t be able to take advantage of Verizon’s UltraWide Band network. Samsung A-53 supports mmWave, which is a plus point. It’s worth noting that both phones lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is pretty standard on the new phones nowadays. There isn’t a huge difference between the two phones, but many of the things come down to the personal preference for buying your new phone, like Galaxy A-53’s expandable storage or the iPhone’s wireless charging. Galaxy A-53 is the winner, thanks to the octa-core processor, larger full HD- Display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. I’d say the Galaxy A-53 is the better deal to go.
