While many people go all out with pink and red for Valentine’s Day, I’m here to remind you that black is just as stunning—if not more. There’s something so elegant, bold, and mysterious about black-themed Valentine’s treats, and I absolutely love how these turned out!
For this set, I worked with strawberries of all different sizes—because let’s be honest, every package comes with a mix of tiny, medium, and giant berries. Instead of trying to find the "perfect" ones, I made use of all of them in creative ways!
🍓 The large berries were turned into beautiful chocolate hearts
🌹 The medium-sized berries became black roses—so gothic and stunning!
💀 The baby berries were tiny chocolate skulls—probably my favorite part!
I used Eleven O One Deluxe Melting Wafers, Sweet Shoppe Melting Wafers, and Artisan Accents Black Candy Color from Stover & Company to get the deep, rich black I wanted.
✔️ Not Your Typical V-Day Treat – Because black is bold, edgy, and different.
✔️ Gothic Elegance – Perfect for those who love alternative aesthetics.
✔️ Creative Use of Strawberry Sizes – No wasted berries!
✔️ Chocolate-Covered Perfection – That glossy, smooth chocolate coating is everything.
✔️ Customizable & Fun to Make – You can get so creative with designs!
Washed & dried all the strawberries thoroughly (moisture can ruin melted chocolate!).
Sorted them by size—large, medium, and tiny berries—so I could use them strategically.
Used Eleven O One Deluxe Melting Wafers and Sweet Shoppe Melting Wafers for that silky-smooth consistency.
Added Artisan Accents Black Candy Color to create the perfect, deep black shade.
Stirred gently to avoid air bubbles and kept the chocolate warm while working.
Sliced the large strawberries in half and trimmed the tops to form heart shapes.
Dipped each one in black melted chocolate, tapping off the excess.
Used a toothpick to smooth out the edges for a perfect heart shape.
Let them set completely on parchment paper before arranging them beautifully.
Dipped the medium-sized strawberries in black chocolate and let them set.
Once hardened, used extra melted chocolate to pipe delicate petal details on the surface, creating a rose-like effect.
Some berries were even dusted with a light edible shimmer for a dramatic touch.
These tiny strawberries were so perfect for making skulls!
After dipping them in black chocolate, I used white melted chocolate to pipe little skull faces—eyes, nose, and teeth!
The contrast of black and white made them look so detailed and striking.
✨ Arranged everything on a black plate for a truly moody, aesthetic Valentine’s spread.
✨ Paired them with dark chocolate truffles, black macarons, and edible gold flakes for a luxe vibe.
✨ Served alongside espresso or red wine—because rich chocolate + bold flavors = perfection.
✨ These would also make a stunning gift box for anyone who loves dark, romantic aesthetics.
I know not everyone wants pink and red for Valentine’s Day—and that’s okay! Black can be just as romantic, elegant, and creative. These strawberries were so much fun to make, and I love how they embrace a different kind of beauty for the holiday.
