The railway took delivery of its first batch of bogie carriages which were later designated the fleet numbers F.1 to F.6 in a series which ultimately numbered seventy-five in total.  These would ultimately supersede the original four-wheel stock which would be mounted onto bogie underframes to become the “pairs”  carriages.

As was common upon the establishment of railway stations, the area to the front of the railway land was provided with a new public house this year, The Duck’s Nest which derived its name from the licensee, a Mr. C.R. Duck who created a wooden structure on the site housing the inn, later replaced with the more substantial version which remains today.
