The railway took delivery of its final locomotive, No.16 Mannin from the usual supplier of Beyer, Peacock & Co., of Manchester; this locomotive was considerably larger than those provided previously, designed to be capable of taking heavy trains up the steep bank south of Douglas unaided, a job previously using two locomotives.
The final bogie carriage was also delivered this year from the Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon & Finance Co., of Saltley in Birmingham, a half-brake carriage similar to seven delivered previously to the same design which featured on almost every train owing to the provision of large luggage space negating the requirement for tailstock.
