Monday 29th May, saw locomotives No.4 and No.13 in steam working the 10.15am and 2.15pm trains to Port Erin. During that week the morning train at 10.30am from Port Erin was run, mainly for school children travelling to Castletown. The following day, No.11 was light in readiness for a Special train the next day. The 4.00pm ex-Port Erin train arrived in Douglas on time with six full carriages, despite having to run through a heavy rainstorm on the journey. On the last day of May, No.11 left Douglas with the empty stock Special at 12.45pm to collect the party at Castletown.

On Monday 26th June, it was announced that the Royal Family were to travel on the Railway on 2nd August. The Royal Saloon had already been taken out of service, and so F.35, F.45 and F.46 were then also taken out of service for repairs and painting; work also started on the canopy on the Port Erin line platform. During the next few days, the staff of Tony Wilding Limited were working at Castletown Station, tarring the platform in front of the station and entrance from the road. Later the men moved to Douglas and resurfaced part of the Port Erin line platform, and part of the roadway at the side of the Station Building.
