There was a serious collision in the Nunnery Cutting just outside the terminus where No.7 Tynwald  and  No.10 G.H. Wood had a head-on smash, both sustaining extreme damage, ultimately leading to the withdrawal of the former locomotive in 1947 which had buckled its frames, similar though less serious damage being caused to the second locomotive
