The canopy and ornamental verandah were added to the frontage of the station; some sources cite that an entire new structure was erected in place of an 1874 structure, but this is believed to be erroneous; the station here was to the same design as that which was also established at Port Erin for the opening of the line (though this was of local slate rather than limestone, and replaced around this time by the brick structure which remains on the site today).

A public water fountain was erected on Victoria Road outside the station by the B.W.T.A. (British Womens Temperance Movement) as a stand against the demon drink served in the two adjacent public houses; this remains in situ today and still serves this function and is constructed, like the station, from local limestone with suitable enscriptions on each side. It can be seen when exiting the station.

Elsewhere, following enquiries to the Railway Company made by the Douglas Rifle Club, a short earth platform was established at Ballacostain equidistant from Port Soderick and Santon to serve a range in the area, this would remain in situ as a private stopping place for many years and take various guises, from Pistol Castell to Rifle Range Halt, serving trains for King William's College students; indeed remnants of this platform were still evident until widespread track relaying early in the twenty-first century.
