Following a submission made in 1878, the station was furnished with its first goods shed, which is understood to have been of basic timber construction; it was superceded in 1901 by the structure which remains in place today, being considerably larger. Although history does not recall the location of this first edifice, it is highly likely to have been on the approximate location of that which remains today.
The second batches of bogie carriages were supplied, the first two (F.7 and F.8) being provided by the Ashbury Carriage & Wagon Co., with others (F.9 to F.12) from the more familar supplier of Brown, Marshalls & Co., of Birmingham as per the inital batch from 1876.
