The Season
The first year of government ownership saw scheduled services commencing from 15th May and running (Saturdays excepted) until 30th September in line with the previous year.
Locomotives
No.4 Loch emerged at the beginning of the season in a new maroon scheme to herald the start of a new era as well as a similar new livery for all the carriages and the introdution of Isle of Man Railways branding.
No.11 Maitland was also a regular performer, with No.10 G.H. Wood and No.12 Hutchinson dismantled awaiting rebuilds leaving only No.13 Kissack t complete the trio of operational locomotives.
No.19 and No.20, the diesel railcars, were also available for operation and carried out this duty on shoulder days as well as a number of charters, later in the year being painted as part of the branding excercise.
