I was first told to pick a spot on the drawing of my shoe to do three zoomed in drawings. I picked the area at random. Once I had all three drawings, as well as one picked out for my final painting, I began thinking about what I wanted to turn it into. I thought that it would be fun to do a weird scene, which led me to the finished product.
To create these two pieces of artwork I used a 2H pencil, a Sharpie pen, a piece of paper with a square cut out in the middle, a ruler, and watercolors. For the first drawings of three zoomed pictures of a shoe I used my 2H pencil, a ruler, as well as a piece of paper cut out in the middle to focus on one area of the shoe to zoom in on. For the final painting, I used my 2H pencil to sketch out all of my ideas, a ruler to correct any lines, a Sharpie pen for any outlining I needed to do, and watercolors to add color and give the painting life.
For this assignment, I was told to draw three different drawings of a zoomed in piece of the shoe that I drew for my last assignment. For each drawing, the zoom had to get closer and closer. Once I had three I could pick whichever drawing I wanted and then create something out of it. When I drew every line out, I first saw two roads leading in two different directions. I thought that the stitches on the shoe looked like yellow dashes in the road. When looking at the space that was dividing the two roads, I immediately saw a stream. Once I put the color in for the stream, it reminded me of a kid's book illustration which kind of gave me the idea to do rubber ducks rather than realistic ducks. Finally, I had one space left to fill. I originally thought of a sun shape when I saw it, which gave me the idea of painting another planet but zoomed in. I look up zoomed in pictures of all different kinds of planets, and I ended up choosing Saturn. I took note of the colors in the photo of Saturn and from there I kind of just let my mind take control of my hand. I kept adding color in different places until I was happy with it.
