Wire Sculpture

For this assignment, I was told to use wire to create a real life interpretation of whatever I wanted. For this project, I looked around my room for different items that were big enough and that looked interesting to sculpt. I ended up finding a wooden mushroom in my room and thought that it would be fun to sculpt.

To make this sculpture I used wire cutters to cut the black wire, a clamping tool to clamp the wire together to make chains, and then black wire.

I started out by having to create a ten linked chain that would stand up on its own while holding it. Once that was completed I was able to move on to the big assignment which was creating a sculpture. After I went through the process of picking an object to sculpt I began tracing out the sizes of the various pieces that would form the shape of the sculpture. From there I used little links that I made to connect the bigger loops. It was difficult to make the structure stay still and be secure but after spending a lot of time on it, it became more secure.
