Lidded Pinch Pot Jars

For this project I was assigned to create two pinch pot jars that included hand made lids as well as something for he jars to rest on on the bottom of the jar. We had to create something that was unique and creative.

I started out by creating two smooth spheres and from there pinching them with my hands until I was able to create a jar like sculpture. I did the same thing with the lids to the jars except I used a smaller amount of clay. I added a shelf on the inside of the lids so that way they would stay securely on the jars. I made little tiny balls out of clay to add to the bottom of the jar and on the top of the lids. Once they dried out I painted on a pink glaze. From there the got fired in the kiln and were complete.

For this assignment I wanted to create something that I would use in my daily life or as a decoration in my room. I thought that it would be fun to make cute little jars that I could put things like jewelry in. I picked the colors that I used based off of the prominent colors that are in my room. I was very proud of how my jars turned out, especially because I found this project to be a little bit difficult.
