Colored Pencils On Printmaking Paper

In the first piece of artwork I was testing out different materials when it came to making spheres with shadows, and for the second piece of artwork, I was drawing still life with candy. I chose these specific pieces of candy because of their difference in colors and also because these were my three favorite pieces of candy in the huge pile that I got to choose from.

For the first drawing, I used pencil, watercolor, and marker on watercolor paper. For the second drawing, I used colored pencils on print making paper. For the shading and sketching, I used mainly a 2H and 4B pencils.

For the first sphere in the first drawing, I experimented with a red colored pencil to create shading and depth. I did the same for the rest of the spheres except I used purple watercolor, a blue pencil with marker, and a blue marker. I used all the same materials to try and create shading behind/under all of the spheres. For the second drawing, I took a picture of three pieces of candy all set up in different ways. I then took that photo and created a realistic still life drawing of the three different pieces of candy. I started out by sketching all of the pieces of candy one by one, and then I went in with a pencil to add detail, shading, and depth. Once I was happy with how all of the pieces looked, I went in with my 4B and 2H pencil to add in shadows where they were needed. At some point in my process, I accidentally made a blue mark on the lower right side of my paper. I decided to turn it into a pencil, getting cut off by the border of the paper.
