Recycled Fish
Tissue paper on cardboard
For this assignment I was told to create any piece of art work that I wanted as long as it related to something that we've done this year. for this project I wanted to pick something that I had a lot of fun creating, so I chose to make a recycled assemblage sculpture. For my first assemblage sculpture assignment I did a whale and so I thought that it would be fun to carry on the theme into this project and do a fish.
To make this piece of art work I used cardboard as the base/frame of the sculpture because it was sturdy and relatively easy to work with, tissue paper to add color and texture, and glue to hold it all together.
I knew that I wanted to create a fish with the intent of connecting it to the whale that I created for my assemblage project. I originally wanted to create a sculpture of a puffer fish, but as my sculpture progressed I wanted to do a fish that doesn't really exist. I decided to do that because I felt that it would give me more creativity. After I traced and cut out the various shapes in the cardboard I glued them all together and added the tissue paper in an unorganized way to give it texture. Once every cardboard piece was covered in tissue paper the whole sculpture was assembled. From there I ripped up some pieces fo tissue paper and used them to create the tail and fins. once those were glued on I added the eyes and I was done.
