Graphite

9"x12"

My work of art started out as a black paint drop. Originally I saw the paint drop as a ghost which gave me the idea of it hovering over a sad women. As I was looking at inspiration photos I noticed all of the different shapes of the teardrops. This gave me the idea to turn the paint drop into a tear going down someones face. This artwork shows a shocked women who is feeling sadness all at the same time.

To make this piece of art I used graphite. To help use graphite to create the drawing I used my finger to help blend as well as an eraser to make any changes that I wanted to make along the way.

I started out with the idea of turning the paint drop into a ghost hovering over a sad women. As I was looking through inspiration photos I noticed all of the different shapes of the teardrops which gave me the idea to turn the paint drop into a teardrop running down a women's face. From there I began sketching out the women that I pictured in my brain. Once I reached a rough drawing of what I wanted I began drawing with detail and shading. Throughout my process of drawing I erased and redrew many things as well as I changed up some of my ideas. Instead of drawing eyebrows I tried drawing bangs on the girl. At one point I looked up a tutorial on how to draw eyelashes because I wasn't happy with how mine were coming out. After I finished using the tutorial I was a little bit happier with the eyelashes. From there I kept adding in shading where I felt it was needed until I was happy with how it looked.
