PhD Physics

Personal

I grew up in Bangor, Maine, and completed my B.S. in Physics and Mathematics at Northeastern University in Boston. During college I worked at CERN for a few months with the CMS collaboration, and since college I have worked in data management and manufacturing engineering before starting at UMinn. My hobbies include rock climbing, reading (I’m a fan of Brandon Sanderson), and making cocktails. I also enjoy playing board games and solving logic puzzles with friends. I look forward to meeting the team.

Professional

I am entering my second year as a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Physics. I’m working this summer with Dr. Michael Coughlin, using deep learning techniques to understand and remove noise from gravitational wave signals. Currently, I’m examining how the stochastic background is affected by the machine learning algorithms that have been developed. The DSMMA program is an excellent opportunity to study an interesting field, while building statistical and analytical skills, and I look forward to taking part in it.
