MS in Data Science

Professional Bio

I am a student in the Data Science M.S. program at the University of Minnesota. I graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul in 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Physics and minors in Mathematics and Political Science. While an undergrad, I was President of the school's Society of Physics Students chapter, the Innovators, Designers and Engineers Association (IDEA), and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. After graduation, I began working as a Software QA Engineer at Image Sensing Systems, a traffic sensors company in the Twin Cities. It was there I became interested in Computer Science and ultimately Data Science as a way of turning numbers into practical information. Through the DSMMA program, I hope to gain insight into the fundamentals of statistics and data analysis.

Personal Bio

I grew up in the Twin Cities suburbs. Outside of academics I enjoy playing keyboard and guitar, listening to 60's-70's classic rock, reading sci-fi novels and short stories, biking and paying (arguably too much) attention to the current baseball season. I've been an astronomy enthusiast to varying degrees since elementary school, making the DSMMA program a great sandbox to explore Data Science.
