Lindsey Gordon
PhD in Astrophysics
Professional:
Lindsey Gordon is a second year astrophysics PhD student in MIfA working with Tom Jones. Her current research falls in two main areas. The first is updating the WOMBAT suite of MHD simulations for improved performance on HPC systems. The second is a study of the impacts of AGN jets propagating through the ISM and their ability to create positive or negative feedback with regards to star formation. She also has an extensive background in astronomy public outreach and is interested in the use of virtual reality in astronomy education.
Personal:
Lindsey grew up in Connecticut before attending Wellesley College in MA for her bachelor’s in astrophysics with a minor in computer science. While at Wellesley she worked on a number of research projects, spanning from exoplanets to particle accelerators to supernovae, and was involved with the Shakespeare Society and ASTRO Club. In her free time she reads extremely thick fantasy novels and is trying to learn how to solve a Rubix Cube.
