The use of technology in the year 2021-2022 has seen an unprecedented growth globally. Despite the unprecedented circumstances, the learning continued with the same zeal and enthusiasm. Coding continues to be a strong focus in MSHS, with younger students developing their understanding through graphical languages, such as Scratch and Makecode, before being introduced to Python and databases in years 7 to 10 followed with OOP concepts through Java.
There has been a focus on providing students with more engaging, interactive experiences including constructing virtual environments, and the hands-on ‘digital circuits’ unit for year 8 students. Despite the Covid’19 restrictions, the DP1 & DP2 students continued to develop their problem solving skills by using various online tools including Java NetBeans, JFrames, MySQL, etc for the coding practices and tools such as whiteboard.fi, VoiceThread, FlipGrid, and Jamboard etc for the collaboration. The DP2 students developed some amazing projects as a part of their IA which includes Comprehensive Support System for the school counsellor, A system to help online delivery outlets manage accounts, a scheduling software for the department, etc.
