It has been a tricky start for the Grade 9 at the beginning of this new academic year with so many uncertainties with regards to how the lessons were going to be conducted - fully online, hybrid or face-to-face. Luckily, we can start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the decreasing number of COVID-19 cases as the days go by. More students are now slowly showing up on campus to attend their classes and many of them looked happy to finally see their friends again after almost two years. Behaviours are slowly readjusting with some able to better focus and thriving with the human touch to the instructional methods.
The Grade 9 students are really developing rapidly both mentally and socially showing their accomplishments in the numerous assemblies throughout the year. From how to plan their summer holidays or ‘how to edit video’ workshops, to identifying their forte to better choose their right BEST pathways or to even commemorate the role of women in the development of the modern society, you name it, they have all been part and involved in these student-led activities. It is really fulfilling for teachers to see how they are maturing and slowly turning into responsible, balanced and thriving young individuals ready to bring changes to our society.
