The Indonesian delegation, SWA RoboKnights, obtained 3rd place in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2021 Finals in Germany. This year’s World Robotics Olympiad Open Category touches upon three main themes: Renewable energy in communities, energy in transportation, and the mix of energy in modern systems. Our SWA Roboknights team constructed and programmed a SunDroid system that relied on the use of an “industrial-grade solar tracker” as well as the implementation of wireless transmission systems and gearraches systems. The industrial grade solar tracker acted as a mechanism to capture energy more efficiently even in harsh weather conditions, whereas the wireless charging system was implemented to charge electric cars. Through the 10-month span of working on the project, students breathed life filled with soldering, drilling, designing, debugging and 3D printing. To complete the project successfully, the students have used all of the approaches to learning (ATL) skills they have developed during their MYP journey:
