17-20
12-14
I’m calling this project, 12-14 because that is the year span of my younger years on the competition team. I was not on team 2015-16 but I did not quit I kept training to try out the next year and work harder, and it paid off. The subject is my passion-based on dance awards and the things I love. I chose to create this specific work because dance is my passion and I wanted to show the things that I one when I was younger. For materials, I used my bed, a chair, one of my costumes from my first year on the team with the trophy from that dance, medals, ribbons. I used a variety of techniques and methods including adding warmth, using photoshop to make corrections, cropping the photo. While creating this work, I paid close attention to looking down on the photo by standing on a chair and leaning as far as I could over my bed to be directly over my bed. I wanted my artwork to look meaningful and I did that by using my old competition stuff in my photo. To add interest to my composition, I used memories by having my first costume that competed in and my first competition coat. I like the way I put the trophy on the costume from the dance that won that trophy. and I am proud of my idea of taping the tutu of my costume down to the bed so to wouldn’t flip the other way. However, I struggled with being directly over the objects, I did this better than in my other photo because I have less object in thins photo. If I created another work like this I may use my drawings of dance. My work shows that I learned still life.
