Relax

I’m calling this project, Relax because in the background on this photo is a calm lake with a pretty sunset. Whenever I go to this lake I am always much more relaxed because it is always so quiet. The subject is a reed, based on selective focus.

I chose to create this specific work because in the photo the focus was completely on the reed and you can see every detail of the reed. Which balances out the lake in the back.

For materials, I used a piece of reed I also tried using other materials such as flowers and the branches from the trees I used a variety of techniques and methods including The rule of thirds, selective focus. While creating this work, I paid close attention to clarity by changing on my camera where the focus is directed to. I wanted my artwork to look detailed but not edited a lot and I did that by slightly adding contrast and making the photo slightly darker.

I like the way the selective focus came out and I am proud of texture of the reed.

However, I struggled with keeping my camera standing so a lot of my photos came out blurry.

If I created another work like this I may have a stand to put the camera on and have a different location maybe have mountains.

My work shows that I learned how to incorporate the rule of thirds more in my photos and I think I should start thinking about the other compositions while taking my photos.
